Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 28, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Universal I/O (“we”, “our”) handles your information when you use our website and products. Because the product works by reading what is on your screen and what you say, we describe separately what is sent for processing and what is stored.
2. Sent for processing, not stored
To draft text, understand a screen, transcribe speech, and rework incoming messages, we send screenshots, audio, and the text you are writing to our servers and to the AI providers named below. These are handled only as temporary files for that processing and are not stored in our database. Temporary screenshot and audio files are deleted when the app exits, and any image left behind by an abnormal exit is deleted at the next launch. Conversations in the screen-understanding features are not retained.
3. Reference information read from the screen
To identify which product is on screen, we read the host name of the page shown in your browser. We do not collect the path or the query string. The host name and the surrounding on-screen text are reference information for that single request; they are stored neither on our servers nor in our usage records.
4. Stored on your Mac
The original and final text of messages you actually sent (most recent 100), and unsent drafts, are stored on your Mac in an area scoped to the signed-in account. They are not sent to our servers. A draft is deleted once it has been sent. On sign-out the local store is closed, and its contents are never shown to or used for a different account. Your sign-in session is stored in a keychain area specific to this product.
5. Stored on our servers
We store account information (email address, plan, subscription state) and operational usage records. A usage record contains the feature used, the AI model used, the amount processed (tokens or audio seconds), success or failure, and processing time. We do not store the text you wrote, the AI's response, screenshots, audio, application names, or window titles. Facts about yourself that you confirm in the app are saved only after you agree to each one, and you can review, correct, or delete them from the app at any time.
6. AI processing providers
AI processing is carried out through the OpenAI and Groq APIs. We send requests with API conversation state disabled (store: false), and additionally use each provider's zero data retention setting, under which submitted data is neither used for training nor retained. Zero data retention is a setting in each provider's own console; we verify it before launch and during ongoing operation.
7. Other providers
We use Supabase for authentication and our database, Vercel for server hosting, Cloudflare for application distribution, and Stripe for payments. Credit card numbers are handled by Stripe and are not retained by us. All of these process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements.
8. Retention
Usage records are kept for 90 days, after which they are added to a monthly aggregate that does not identify you and the detailed rows are deleted. History on your Mac is capped at the most recent 100 entries, with older entries removed. Account information is kept for as long as the account exists.
9. Your rights and account deletion
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information. You can also delete your account yourself from within the app. On deletion we require a recent sign-in for safety, then remove your authentication record, usage records, profile, personal tenant, and the history and drafts held on your Mac. If you have an active paid subscription, it must be cancelled first.
10. Information we ask you not to send
The product sends the screen exactly as it appears at the moment you ask it to. Please do not use screen-sending features while passwords, API secret keys, bank account details, or identity documents are visible. We also instruct the AI models not to read out values of this kind, but that constrains model behaviour only — it does not prevent the screen from being sent.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page.
